The laboratory (11 May - 13 June)

A photogrammetry laboratory was set up at the end of the exhibition. Managed by staff of the vice presidency of the Puglia Region, the laboratory is equipped with equipment from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning and a restitutor for terrestrial photogrammetry made available by Wild Italia SpA. Although schematically, the laboratory aims to illustrate the functioning of the "Regional Center for Photogrammetric Documentation", which will be the subject of the round table and which includes the following sectors:

  • information sector , intended to illustrate, with the aid of video cassettes and closed circuit television systems, the possibilities of using photogrammetry and the operation of the equipment existing at the center;
  • catalog , where the user can find the desired relief.  The catalog update is based on user requests;
  • image archive. Includes, in positive or negative copy, the stereometric pairs relating to the reliefs existing in the catalog. The user can examine them directly in the photointerpretation sector or request enlargements on paper;
  • photointerpretation sector . It is equipped with stereoscopes for frame analysis and stereoscopes with eyepieces for discussion. The latter type of stereoscope allows the user to communicate directly to the operator the information that must be translated from photogrammetric language to graphic or numerical language;
  • return sector . Photogrammetric restitution is the phase that allows the translation of information from photogrammetric language to graphic or numerical language. Today there are equipment, sophisticated but easy to use, which allow the direct participation of the user in the restitution and this to the advantage not only of a rational use of the measurements but above all of a considerable reduction in costs;
  • design sector . This sector is intended for the composition of photogrammetric restitution models for the elaboration of graphic representations that are so ... requested;
  • Database . It is automatically connected to the return sector and is intended for the collection, by means of an electronic computer, of all the information requested by users. For technical and economic reasons this sector has not been included in the exhibition.
